Kings River Outfitters provides a recreational canoe rental, shuttle and guide service that prides itself on its friendly staff, superior customer service and special attention to details. We proudly welcome you to our professional and knowledgeable outfitter service. The remote nature of the location of our headquarters at Trigger Gap on the banks of the Kings River puts us out of the reach of inexpensive high bandwidth Internet connections. Also, we run a busy schedule doing shuttles that often prevents us from checking our e-mail for long periods of time. As a result, we recommend calling by telephone as the best way to get answers to questions about information not posted on our web pages, including river levels and possible reservations. For other inquiries contact us at info@kingsriveroutfitters.com .
Founded in 1996, Kings River Outfitters provided the first canoe rental and shuttle service dedicated to the entire Kings River. Our founder, Ernie Kilman, began canoeing in the mid sixties as a Boy Scout. He has over 37 years of Ozark river experience. He knows the river well and he serves as an excellent host and guide for the Kings.
Ernie also paints oil landscapes and operated an art gallery in Eureka Springs for many years before starting up this outfitter service. He would often load his canoe and float down the river for a day of painting on location. Since the Kings runs so close to Eureka, he would sometimes paddle on its welcoming waters more than 30 times a year. He still paints. If you appreciate fine art, you might find it interesting to take a look at his paintings. He received the "Eureka Springs Artist of the Year" award for 2003.
You will find us located eight miles Southeast of Eureka Springs, just off of Arkansas state highway 221, near where the highway bridge crosses the Kings River, at a place called Trigger Gap. We rent both canoes and kayaks. We provide a shuttle service for floaters and a guide service for those who enjoy watching wildlife and touring wonderful scenery. The Arkansas Film Commission considers Ernie as one of the best location guides for outdoor settings in the region. As Ernie puts it, "I've floated down just about every creek and ditch you can float in the Ozarks and I've been down just about every trail and back country road too."
Ernie has floated the full length of the floatable Kings River. He continually paddles on the Kings, keeping up with the changing river. He enjoys exploring and reexploring our scenic Ozark areas over and over.
We work closely with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to monitor and conserve the waters and wildlife of the Kings. The State relies on us for its weekly fishing report. The Arkansas Stream Team recently designated Kings River Outfitters as the 2001 Conservation Outfitter of the Year.
